ESOL Program Description:
Ocee Elementary School provides the English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program to all students who are Limited English Proficient (LEP). Each new student whose parents or guardians indicate a home language other than English is screened for English fluency. This is done using the WIDA W-APT English language assessment.
English Language Learners are tested annually for English language proficiency. This is done between the months of February and March using the WIDA ACCESS test.
The ESOL teachers collaborate with classroom teachers and other faculty to provide appropriate instruction and assessments that meet the learning needs of all English Language Learners. We believe that the entire staff at our school plays an important role in the development of all students.
